A NEW CHAPTER, THE SAME PURPOSE

Gladiolus Place Takes Its Next Step Towards Independence

Our Origins

Gladiolus Place traces its beginnings to 1998, when our founders, Pastor Andrew and his wife, Grace, established Andrew and Grace Home with the support of Presbyterian Welfare Services—now Presbyterian Community Social Services (PCS)—and Covenant Presbyterian Church (CPC). They came together with a shared commitment to provide a safe and nurturing home for vulnerable teenage girls.

In 2018, Andrew and Grace Home was renamed Gladiolus Place (GP), marking a new season in the Home’s development while remaining firmly rooted in its founding vision and purpose.

As an established social service agency serving a range of communities, PCS incubated GP’s growth in partnership with CPC, providing governance oversight, administrative and financial support, and organisational guidance over the years. Through the strong foundation provided by both organisations, GP has grown from its early beginnings into an organisation with sound governance, experienced leadership and strong organisational capabilities.

Our Next Step

After more than two decades of growth and development, GP has reached a stage of organisational maturity and is now well-positioned to operate as a separate legal entity and independent charity. We are pleased to share that, in preparation for this transition, GP achieved several significant organisational milestones in 2026. Gladiolus Place was incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG), establishing GP as a legal entity in its own right. We were subsequently registered as a charity and granted Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status.

With effect from 1 November 2026, GP will commence operations as an independent organisation. This marks an important milestone in our journey and reflects the strong organisational foundation that has been built over the years. As an independent charity, GP will have a clear legal and governance framework for our future operations as we continue to strengthen our organisational capabilities while responding with greater focus and agility to the evolving needs of the girls and families we serve.

Importantly, our vision, mission and work remain unchanged. Our independence is not a departure from our purpose. Rather, it is an opportunity to deepen our commitment to that purpose and carry our work forward with renewed focus and long-term sustainability. The care and services we provide to our Girls and their families will continue without interruption.

Following GP’s decision to pursue independence, PCS has worked closely with us to support and facilitate an orderly transition. We are deeply grateful to PCS for walking alongside GP as our “big brother”—providing the support, guidance and space for us to grow, and placing its trust in us over the years. We are equally grateful to CPC for its faithful partnership and steadfast support throughout our journey. GP’s independence is a natural progression from the foundation they helped to establish. These longstanding relationships will not only continue; we look forward to deepening them in the years ahead.

Our Hope

As we embark on this new chapter, we remain firmly rooted in the purpose that brought GP into being in 1998. We remain committed to bringing meaningful and lasting change to the lives of the girls and families entrusted to our care.

We are deeply grateful to our Staff, Volunteers, Donors, Government Partners and Friends, whose service, partnership, generosity and encouragement have made our work possible.

We hope that you will continue this important journey with us. Your generosity, encouragement and unwavering support have made our work possible, and they will remain vital as we step into the future.

Together, we can give our Girls the care, hope and opportunities they need to heal, grow and thrive. Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us make a lasting difference.

A NEW CHAPTER. THE SAME PURPOSE.

A STRONGER FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE.
