Our Story

Gladiolus Place (formerly Andrew and Grace Home) has been a safe, healing space for vulnerable teenage Girls who have come under our wings in their time of need. In 1998, Pastor Andrew Choo and Mrs Grace Choo founded Andrew and Grace Home (AG Home) to provide refuge for troubled teenage Girls and sheltered protection for mothers and mothers-to-be.

In 2018, the Home was renamed and took the namesake from the Gladiolus flower which was named after the Latin word for ‘sword’ and represents strength, honour and dignity. Our hope is that each Girl who passes through Gladiolus Place will bloom with such virtues and values.

In September 2018, Ms Michelle Tan took over the management helm as Executive Director and Head of Home, and has been actively working with the Girls and Staff to drive improvements since then. The Home currently provides shelter and rehabilitation for up to 40 teenage Girls who have Child Protection concerns.

The Process

1. Unsafe Biological Homes

Ministry of Social and Family (MSF) deems home as unsuitable or unsafe for the girl to live in, and there are no suitable next of kin carers.

2. Transfer to Gladiolus Place

Teenage girl is removed from home and placed into Gladiolus Place. The duration of stay depends on each girl's and family's background, subject to assessment by social services.

3. Work with Child & Family

We provide in-house professional trauma-informed care and therapy for child and family. Our goal is to safely reintegrate the Girls to their biological homes.
